Spokane Valley launches smart phone app | Business
The Spokane Valley has launched a new app designed to help visitors and residents get to know the city.
"The app was developed to help visitors as well as community members explore and enjoy Spokane Valley's unique features and qualities," said City of Spokane Valley Human Resources Director John Whitehead, who led the team that developed the app.
The free app, available in the Apple App Store and in Google Play, connects users to local businesses, restaurants, parks, and provides general information about the city. The Eat and Stay portions of the app use your location to suggest restaurants and hotels in your current area.
The Play section provides information about local parks, pools, trail and river access locations, and local events such as ValleyFest. It connects with the Google Maps app the provide GPS location and direction based on your current location.
The Spokane Valley is encouraging local business, organizations and agencies to upload their information to Google Places for Businesses and Google+ to help make the app a success. Listings are free and only take a few minutes.
Demonstrations of the app as well as in-person assistance uploading information to Google Places will be available on Thursday, March 27th during the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber’s Business Fair at Mirabeau Park Hotel. Community members are invited to provide feedback on the app, and to make suggestions by contacting John Whitehead at firstname.lastname@example.org
