Community reaches out to U-High after tragedy | Community Spirit
News of a deadly car crash spread fast. Two University High School sophomore girls, killed Saturday night, their classmate seriously injured.
The shock and pain reverberated through the community over the deaths of Josie Freier and McKenzie Mott. Emails, Facebook posts, pictures and calls started flooding in, showing support for the families and a high school in pain.
Among the support.. rival Central Valley students wore U High colors. One facebook post said the majority of the 2100 students showed up the Monday after the wreck, in red and gold.
Girls soccer teams from West Valley to Richland, even Spokane Falls Community College wore symbols for the girls on their wrists, socks and uniforms.
There are marquee messages at middle schools, a zumbathon planned in honor of the girls at a valley church, food and coffee donated to the U High teachers and staff and a memorial set up at the crash site.
As a mom of a sophomore at U High, I've been so moved by these messages and images of support, I wanted to share some of them with you.
