Buy back collects 990 pounds of candy for troops | Community Spirit
The Great Candy Buy Back at KiDDS Dental in Liberty Lake was a huge success and the final count was 990 pounds of candy. Kids agreed to trade in their Halloween candy in order to make the holidays a little sweeter for U.S. troops.
Instead of munching on peanut butter cups, licorice and lollipops this Halloween, kids in Liberty Lake agreed to trade the sugar for money, dental goodies and coupons to local businesses. KiDDS paid $1 per pound of candy so the sweet treats could be shipped to our overseas troops instead.
In all, 990 pounds of candy was gathered and will be sent to Operation Gratitude along with 72 toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, and dental floss. Operation Gratitude, based in California, will package the candy and other items and ship them out. This month, the organization will send out it’s one millionth package.
