Vehicle Pursuit Ends With Broken Car Window

A short vehicle pursuit in the Spokane Valley on Monday night ended with Sheriff’s Deputies breaking a car window to arrest culprit.

While traveling eastbound on I-90, Spokane County Sheriff Deputy Jeff Thurman identified the Honda Accord in front of him as stolen. When Deputy Thurman attempted to stop the vehicle the driver, 18-year-old William Hubbard, accelerated instead.

After a brief pursuit near Boone and Argonne, Deputy Thurman performed a PIT maneuver which successful disabled the vehicle. Hubbard refused to exit the stolen vehicle, so deputies broke the driver's side window open in order to escort him out.

Hubbard is charged on felony charges of Attempting to Elude and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. He was also charged with Resisting Arrest and Driving While License Suspended.
